I used this meter for approx. 2 months when my BG was between 250 and 400 when I moved from pills to insulin. I used 2 other meeters to compare readings from this meter and it strayed as much as 50 points. I was told that those readings were within the 10 to 15% margin allowed by medical guidelines for meters. But that is not good enough for me. I therefore switched to a more accurate meter with large memory.

User Review

Pros Consistant with most meters today.
Cons Not accurate and on the larger size.

I like the Ultra2 meter by LifeScan. it's reliable and seems to be accurate. i don't like the fact that it's a coded meter but onetouch/ LifeScan has made all of their test strips code 25 i believe...? It's supposedly a step in the right direction.... Overall i would recommend this meter to anyone that wants a reliable glucose meter. it's not the fastest meter on the market and it doesn't take the smallest sample of blood but it definitely competes within the top glucose monitors out there.

User Review

Pros Pre and post meal markers, ease of use, and backlight
Cons kind of bulky, you have to code the Test Strips each time you get a new vial

Overall I like my Ultra2 meter. It's easy to use, reliable and takes a small amount of blood. I especially like the pre and post meal markers because it lets me see how my food is affecting my glucose levels. I wish that OneTouch would come out with a No Code meter though.... until then, I am sticking my finger and sticking to my Ultra2

User Review

Pros -Pre and Post Meal Markers
-Backlight
-Easy to read numbers
Cons -A little big for my taste
-Wish it was a no code glucose meter
