Bayer has a new blood glucose meter designed just for kids. The meter is called the Didget and is the first blood glucose monitoring system that connects directly to a Nintendo DS or DS Lite gaming system to help kids manage their diabetes by rewarding them for consistent testing habits with points to unlock new game levels and options. The Didget meter is no coding meter, will display results in 5 seconds, and requires a small blood sample size of 0.6µL. The Didget meter will also hold up to 450 previous test results, and is capable of having results downloaded onto a home computer for easy diabetes management.

As a kid oriented product, Bayer has a winner here. I would like the set up to be a little easier. For example, AgaMatrix allows you to program meter settings from the computer in a very easy interface, then synch with the meter.

Otherwise, Bayer has done a good job making a difficult process and situation better. In the end, that seems to be the whole purpose for a product like this.

Reminds my son when he needs to test and I can download his results to the computer when it's time for a doctors visit.
